Why HVAC Companies Put Their Techs in Uniform
What HVAC Teams Wear, by Role
HVAC technician uniforms work best when each role has a set kit. This is what most teams choose:
| Role | Typical pieces | Where to start |
|---|---|---|
| Service technicians | Button-front work shirts, work polos, work pants, a cap | Custom work shirts, work polo shirts |
| Install and replacement crews | Work shirts, work pants, work jackets, beanies in winter | Custom work jackets, custom hats |
| Comfort advisors and sales | Performance polos, quarter zips, softshell jackets | Custom quarter zips, custom jackets |
| Dispatch and office | Polos, quarter zips, a light jacket | Custom polo shirts |
Most shops settle on two or three pieces per role in one or two colors. That keeps reorders simple, and the team looks the same even when people join at different times. Workwear brands for HVAC crews include Dickies, Red Kap, Carhartt and Bulwark for flame-resistant pieces. AllStar Logo is an authorized dealer for all four. For the full range of shirts, jackets, pants and safety pieces, browse custom work uniforms.
Buying vs. Renting HVAC Uniforms
Uniform rental companies own the garments, collect them each week, launder them and replace worn pieces, usually under a service agreement. When you buy, the uniforms belong to your company: you choose any style and brand, and your logo can go on every layer, including jackets, hats and quarter zips.
| Renting | Buying from AllStar Logo | |
|---|---|---|
| Who owns the garments | The rental company | Your company |
| Laundry | Usually part of the service | Done by your techs or a laundry service you choose |
| Styles and brands | The rental company’s catalog | Any piece we carry, including Dickies, Red Kap, Carhartt and Bulwark |
| Logo | Usually an emblem or embroidery on the provider’s garments | Embroidered or printed on each piece; you approve a digital proof first |
| Adding a new tech | Added to the rental agreement | Reorder your approved styles; reorders of the same logo have no setup fee |

Fabrics for Attics, Rooftops and Crawl Spaces
HVAC work moves from a hot attic in August to a frozen rooftop unit in January, often on the same team. Choose fabrics for the conditions your techs actually work in:
- Poly-cotton work shirts resist wear and hold their shape through frequent washing. They give service techs a collared, professional look.
- Moisture-wicking knit polos help in summer heat, when techs spend time in attics and on roofs.
- Stain-release finishes make oil, grease and crawl-space dirt easier to wash out.
- Dark colors such as navy, charcoal and black hide grime between washes. Light colors look sharp but show wear sooner.
- Layers for winter: a work shirt, then a fleece or quarter zip, then a work or softshell jacket. Each layer can carry your logo, so the tech looks branded whatever they take off.
Polyester and poly-cotton blends, which most performance polos, fleece and work shirts are made of, can melt in an arc flash or flash fire. For brazing or live electrical work, follow your safety program: it may call for arc-rated or FR garments, with non-melting fibers such as cotton underneath.
Work uniform sizes run from XS to 4XL, and big and tall styles cover the rest of the crew.
Arc-Rated, Flame-Resistant and Hi-Vis Clothing for HVAC Work
Protective clothing depends on the task, not the job title, and your safety program decides what each task needs. For work on or near energized electrical equipment, such as live disconnects, contactors and control panels, NFPA 70E calls for an arc-flash risk assessment. Where it finds a hazard, workers wear arc-rated (AR) clothing. Arc-rated garments are flame-resistant (FR), but not every FR garment is arc-rated, so check the label for an arc rating in cal/cm² that meets the level your program sets. Crews working near traffic or on active construction sites may need high-visibility garments that meet ANSI/ISEA 107. Your safety lead or the general contractor sets these requirements, so confirm the standard, type and class before you order.
AllStar Logo carries flame-resistant clothing, such as Bulwark iQ shirts, and safety wear such as reflective vests and tees. Tell us the arc rating, standard and class you need, and we’ll show you garments labeled with it. On FR and hi-vis pieces, how the logo goes on matters too: ordinary embroidery thread and heat-transfer prints can melt or burn, and a logo shouldn’t cover reflective tape. Ask us how your logo will be applied before you order.
Logo and Name Placement
- Left chest: your company logo. It’s the standard spot and the first thing a customer sees.
- Right chest: the technician’s name, so customers know who is in their home. Names are added as text in the designer, with a one-time $65 text setup.
- Sleeve: a second mark, such as your phone number, website or a service-line logo.
- Back: a large logo on jackets and sweatshirts for visibility on rooftops and job sites.
- Caps: a front logo. Keep it simple, because the stitch area is small.
The first logo side is included in your logo setup. Each extra side adds a one-time $65.
No logo yet? You can put your company name and phone number on the shirt as text in the designer, with a one-time $65 text setup.
How Ordering Works: From Quote to a 12-Piece Order
- Tell us about your team. Roles, headcount, the sizes you need and any safety requirements.
- Pick your styles. Choose from the pieces above or the full work uniform range, or ask us for a short list by role and budget.
- Send your logo. A vector file (AI, EPS or PDF) works best, and a high-resolution PNG also works. Logo setup and digital proof is a one-time $65 per logo, and reorders of the same logo have no setup fee.
- Approve the proof. You get a digital proof within 48 hours showing the logo size, placement and thread colors. Thread can be matched to your brand’s Pantone (PMS) colors. Nothing is produced until you approve it.
- Production and delivery. Production takes 5–7 business days after you approve your proof, then the order ships. We don’t ship on weekends. Rush takes 5 days (+20%) and Super Rush 4 days (+40%), chosen on the product page.
The minimum is 12 pieces per order, and you can mix and match any products and sizes to reach it. You don’t need 12 of one shirt or one size to place an order. To check fit and fabric first, order a single sample. Sample prices vary by style, and the sample is not credited to the bulk order.
Keeping Uniforms Consistent as You Hire
Many HVAC companies hire ahead of the busy heating and cooling seasons. Plan for that so new techs match the rest of the team:
HVAC Uniform FAQs
What should HVAC technicians wear?
Most HVAC service technicians wear a durable button-front work shirt or a work polo with the company logo on the left chest and their name on the right, plus work pants and a cap. Install crews often add work jackets and beanies in winter. Where your safety program calls for arc-rated or high-visibility clothing, techs wear those garments for that work.
What is the minimum order for HVAC uniforms?
AllStar Logo’s minimum for HVAC uniforms is 12 pieces per order, and you can mix and match any products and sizes to reach it. A four-tech shop, for example, can order three shirts per tech in each tech’s own size, or mix shirts, pants and caps. You can also order a single sample first to check fit and fabric. Sample prices vary by style, and the sample is not credited to the bulk order.
Can you put each technician’s name on their shirt?
Yes. Each technician’s name is added as text in the AllStar Logo designer, usually on the right chest opposite your company logo, with a one-time $65 text setup. A name on the shirt tells the customer who is in their home.
What if our HVAC company doesn’t have a logo yet?
You can put your company name and phone number on the shirt as text in the AllStar Logo designer, with a one-time $65 text setup. You approve a digital proof before anything is produced, and you can add a logo to later orders.
Do you carry flame-resistant uniforms for HVAC techs?
Yes. AllStar Logo carries flame-resistant (FR) clothing, such as Bulwark iQ shirts, and hi-vis safety wear. For electrical work where an arc-flash hazard exists, NFPA 70E calls for arc-rated clothing, so tell us the arc rating or PPE category your safety program sets and we’ll show you garments labeled with it. Ask us how the logo will be applied, because decoration matters on FR garments.
How much do HVAC uniforms cost?
HVAC uniform cost depends on the pieces in each kit and the quantity. As a guide, the Dickies Classic Work Shirt is $29.99 each at 12–72 pieces and $27.59 at 576 or more. Your logo is extra: a one-time $65 logo setup and digital proof, plus $65 for each extra side, and a one-time $65 text setup if you add names. Send us your headcount and roles for a per-tech quote.
How long does an HVAC uniform order take?
AllStar Logo sends a digital proof within 48 hours. Production takes 5–7 business days after you approve it, and the order ships after that. We don’t ship on weekends, so allow for shipping when you plan around a new hire’s start date. Need it sooner? Rush takes 5 days (+20%) and Super Rush 4 days (+40%), chosen on the product page.
Should we buy or rent HVAC uniforms?
Rental includes weekly laundering, but the rental company owns the garments and sets the catalog. Buying lets you choose any style and brand, put your logo on every layer and keep the uniforms. See Buying vs. Renting HVAC Uniforms above.
Do these uniforms work for plumbing and electrical crews too?
Yes. The same work shirts, polos, pants and jackets suit plumbing, electrical and other home-service techs. If your electricians work on energized equipment, check whether your safety program requires arc-rated clothing first.
What colors work best for HVAC uniforms?
Navy, charcoal and black hide grime between washes, and light colors show wear sooner. Pick a shirt color your logo stands out on and that matches your trucks and website.
Do you offer free shipping?
Shipping is charged at checkout. Free shipping applies only to orders over $10,000.
Should HVAC uniforms be embroidered or printed?
Embroidery is the usual choice for HVAC work shirts, polos, jackets and caps, because a stitched logo lasts through heavy, frequent washing and looks professional at the door. Printing suits T-shirts and large back designs. AllStar Logo does both, and you approve a digital proof showing the logo size, placement and colors before anything is produced.
